JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/11/2007 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University baseball team continues to add players for the 2007-08 season. The latest signee is of Gastonia, North Carolina. Kirksey will enter Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ this fall as a freshman and will major in Business Marketing.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ head coach Brent Fronabarger states, "Kevin is going to be really good and has the ability to be a weekend starter for us next season as a freshman. He has a good arm with a quality breaking ball. Kevin is a good kid from a great family and we are very excited to have him as a part of our program."
Kirksey, a 6-foot-4 pitcher/first baseman, prepped at Ashbrook High School. While in high school, he played four seasons of baseball, three seasons of football, and one year of basketball. As a junior, he was named All-Conference and All-Tournament. Following his sophomore season, Kirksey was named the junior varsity MVP. Kirksey hit .333 with three homeruns, six doubles, and 26 RBI. He also posted a 2.32 ERA and tallied 32 strikeouts in just over 45 inning pitched. Off the field, Kirksey was a member of the National Honor Roll and Who's Who Among American High School Students.
