Jackson, Tenn. - 5/4/2002 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Lady Bulldog softball team won the TranSouth Conference tournament with a 3-1 victory over Lee University. This title was Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's third in four seasons.
Senior pitcher, Rachel Murray was named the TranSouth's pitcher of the year for the third straight season. Murray is 25-3 on the season and has topped the 100 win mark in her career. Her 253 strikeouts this season has propelled her past 1100 in her four season's at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. Murray is also hitting .315 for the season with eight triples, one homerun, and 18 RBI. She leads the team in stolen bases with nine.
The Lady Bulldogs were well represented on the all-conference team. Along with Murray, Leah Gronberg, Amy Mejia, Brandi Park, Megan Quary, and Olivia Craden were selected all-conference players.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ tries to make their third trip to the NAIA Softball World Series for the third time in four seasons. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is hosting the NAIA Region XI Tournament on May 8-10. The Lady Bulldogs begin play on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m.
