JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/21/2007 - Fresh of their third straight NAIA Fab Four appearance and fourth Fab Four appearance in the last six years, the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs boasted three players on the . Sophomore Josephine Owino and senior Natanya Smith each were named second team All-Americans. Freshman standout Kaitlin Dudley was named an honorable mentioned All-American. Each of these players add these honors to their first team All-Conference selections earlier this season.
, a 6-foot-4 sophomore center, earns her first All-American honor. Last season, Owino was named to the NAIA All-Tournament team after leading Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to their second of two straight national titles. This season, Owino ranked No. 4 in the NAIA with a .634 field goal percentage. She also ranked 12th in the nation with 1.6 blocks per game. Owino was third on the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ team with 12.3 points per game. She also averaged 5.9 rebounds per game and played in all 36 team games for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.
, a 6-foot-2 senior forward from Memphis, also earns her first All-American honor. During her three seasons at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, Smith has helped lead Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to two national championships and three Fab Four appearances. She led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with 8.8 rebounds per game and was second on the team with 13.8 points per game. Smith started all 36 team games for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as a senior. She ranks No. 9 in the NAIA with a .580 field goal percentage and also 15th in the nation with 8.8 rebounds per game.
, a 5-foot-10 freshman guard from Dyer, Tennessee, continues to rack up the honors after a stellar freshman season. Dudley adds the honorable mentioned All-American honor to her first team All-Conference and All-TranSouth Freshman team selections. Dudley led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with 14.0 points per game, including a national tournament where she averaged 18.3 points per game to lead Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. She shot 45-percent from three point range (81-180) to lead the team, while her 81 three pointers made was second on the team. Dudley’s 45-percent also puts her 5th in the NAIA in that category.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ finished the season 30-6 overall which is the team’s seventh straight 30-plus win season and 12th in the past 13 years. The season also included their 16th straight NAIA National Tournament appearance and 18th trip overall. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ captured the 2007 TranSouth Conference regular season and tournament titles for the eighth time in the 11-year history of the conference.
