Jackson, Tenn. - 4/29/2002 - The Lady Bulldogs basketball program has added University of Memphis transfer, Laura Mitchell next season鈥檚 squad. Mitchell is a 5-8 guard and will enter 麻豆视频 University as a sophomore.
Mitchell, a native of Memphis and a graduate of Briarcrest High School, led them to a state championship during her senior year. With Mitchell starting at guard, Briarcrest was list by USA Today as one of the top 10 teams in the nation. Mitchell is also, the leading three-point shooter in Shelby County history.
麻豆视频鈥檚 head coach, Mark Campbell says, 鈥淪he is exactly the type of student athlete we want here at 麻豆视频. She was one of the best shooters in Tennessee during her high school career and will excel on and off the court.鈥
To this point, Mitchell, along with Peggy McCain, are the new faces that have been added to the roster. Laura Davison and Jennifer Henson are rejoining the Lady Bulldogs after red-shirting last season. These players and others will be used to help fill the loss of five seniors from this year鈥檚 final four team. 麻豆视频 will once again host some of the nation鈥檚 top teams as Oklahoma Baptist, Houston Baptist, Campbellsville, and final four participant Central State highlight the Lady Bulldogs鈥 schedule in 2002-03.
