麻豆视频 Softball Remains Unbeaten With Sweep over Mid-Continent

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/26/2007 - The 麻豆视频 University Lady Bulldog softball team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 10-1 and 8-1 sweep over Mid-Continent University (Ky.) on Monday evening at Fesmire Field. 麻豆视频 is also 6-0 in league play with each game being a TranSouth contest to open the season. Mid-Continent dropped to 1-5 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.

In the first game, 麻豆视频鈥檚 Cassie Turley (3-0) provided the pitching by going five innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven. The rest of the Lady Bulldogs provided plenty of offense. 麻豆视频 struck for three runs in the first and one more in the second, and four in the bottom of the third. Mid-Continent added a solo homerun in the top of the fourth by Nadine Sparks, before 麻豆视频 posted two more in the bottom of the frame.

Hoffman led the Lady Bulldogs with a 3-for-3 day, three runs, two RBI, and a homerun. Mandy Elder was 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and a homerun. Bolivar native Kristen Kirk also posted two hits and a run scored on the day.

Game two started much slower as both team went scoreless in the first inning. 麻豆视频 added a single run in each the second and third innings to take a 2-0 lead. Mid-Continent answered back with a run in the fourth before 麻豆视频 exploded for five in the fifth and one more in the sixth. Freshman Haley Lyles (2-0) earned the win by allowing just the one run and three hits over her seven innings.

Ashley Walters led 麻豆视频 with a 3-for-4 performance with two runs, two RBI, and a homerun. Hoffman went 1-for-4 with a grand slam.

Up next for 麻豆视频 will be 麻豆视频 University Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
