麻豆视频 Ladies Win TranSouth Conference Regular Season Title

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/24/2007 - The 麻豆视频 University Lady Bulldogs are the 2007 TranSouth Conference women's basketball regular season championships after defeating Martin Methodist College 72-65 on Saturday in the final regular season game of the year. 麻豆视频 finished the regular season 24-5 overall and 15-3 in the conference.

This regular season title marks the 10th in the past 12 seasons, including a co-championship in 2004. For head coach Mark Campbell, this is his sixth in eight years.

麻豆视频 and Martin Methodist went back and forth during the first half with 麻豆视频 leading by as many as five points. Martin Methodist, however, posted their biggest lead of the game at the half, leading 32-28.

In the second half, 麻豆视频 opened with a 9-0 run to take a five point lead. Martin Methodist answered back to take a three point lead, but couldn't hold on. 麻豆视频 re-took the lead and began to pull away leading by as many as 10 points in the game, 70-60, before posting a 72-65 win.

麻豆视频 started the conference season 0-2, but close the season by winnning 15 of their past 16 games.

With the regular season title, 麻豆视频 earns the No. 1 seed in next week's TranSouth Tournament which means home court advantage as long as the Lady Bulldog are live.

麻豆视频's first conference tournament game will be on Wednesday night, February 28 at 7:00 pm in quarterfinal action. The Semifinals are on Friday, March 2 at 7:00 pm, and the championship game is Monday, March 5 at 7:00 pm.
