HENDERSON, Tenn. - 2/17/2007 - After trailing Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) by 15 points at halftime Saturday afternoon, 麻豆视频 University outscored the Lions 47-18 in the second half to win 69-55. Saturday鈥檚 win put the Bulldogs at 19-8 on the season, 12-4 in TranSouth Conference play. Freed-Hardeman dropped to 7-21 for the year, and 5-11 in the TranSouth.
Freed-Hardeman jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead, but 麻豆视频 countered with a 7-0 run to come to within seven points. The 14-7 margin was the closest 麻豆视频 would get during the first half. 麻豆视频 shot only 27-percent from the field, including nine-percent from behind the arc. Freed-Hardeman led by 15 points, 37-22 at the half.
The second half started with 麻豆视频 converting two baskets to cut Freed-Hardeman鈥檚 lead to 11 points. However, the Lions answered back with four points to take their lead back to 15. The momentum began to shift in 麻豆视频鈥檚 favor as Alan North, Brian Lake and Tacuma Alexander combined for six three pointers to bring 麻豆视频 back. The Bulldogs took their first lead of the game at 48-46 with 7:30 left in the game. 麻豆视频 never trailed again as they pushed the lead to 14 points at the final buzzer, 69-55.
麻豆视频 was led in scoring by Lake with 20 points, including 2-of-5 three pointers. Alexander and Ben Frederick both posted 13 points for the night. Jackson native, North tallied 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting from behind the arc. Ryan Merriman led the Bulldogs in rebounds, pulling down 12 for the night, including seven in the second half rally.
Freed-Hardeman was lead by Kristoffer Smith with 19 points and Zack Frey with 17 points. Smith and Frey grabbed 8 rebounds apiece in the Lion鈥檚 loss.
The 麻豆视频 Bulldogs will be back at home in Fred DeLay Gymnasium on Thursday, February 22 versus Lambuth University. This will be senior night for 麻豆视频 at 鈥淭he Fred鈥. 麻豆视频 will then close out the regular season on Saturday, February 24 at Martin Methodist College (Tenn.).
