NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 1/23/2007 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University’s and Trevecca Nazarene University's Josh Helton are this week’s TranSouth Athletic Conference co-men’s basketball players of the week for the week ending January 21, 2007
Bealim, a 6-foot-5 senior guard from Livingston, Ala., helped lead the No. 12 Bulldogs to 3-0 week and into a two-way tie for first place in the TranSouth Conference. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is now 13-4 on the season and 6-1 in league play. Bealim had three solid games during the week with a double-double (17 points, 11 rebounds) in a 93-64 over No. 21 Crichton College. Against the Comets he also had six assists and two steals while shooting 7-for-10 from the field. Bealim also had a pair of 20 point games during the week. He scored 23 points with five rebounds and five assists in a 78-75 win at Lyon College. Against Freed-Hardeman Bealim scored 25 points with six rebounds and three assists. For the week Bealim averaged 21.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and a steal. Bealim shot an impressive 25-for-35 (71-percent) from the field, 5-for-8 (62-percent) from three-point range, and 10-for-19 (53-percent) from the foul line.
For Bealim, this is his second TranSouth Player of the Week honor and the fifth such honor for the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men's team.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a match at Lambuth University on Thursday night at 8:00 pm. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and Lambuth are cross-town rivals, but this meeting will mean so much more as the two teams are both ranked among the top teams in the NAIA. Also, to add even more flavor to this game is the fact that Lambuth has re-joined Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in the same conference and both teams are currently tie for first place with 6-1 records.
