Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Ladies Post another Big Point Total in Fourth Straight Win

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/19/2007 - The No. 12 ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs defeated the Blue Mountain College Toppers 90-61 on Thursday night to win their fourth straight game and moved to 13-4 overall and 4-2 in league play. Blue Mountain dropped to 5-10 on the season and 0-6 in the conference.

Over Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s current four-game winning streak, the Lady Bulldogs are averaging 97 points per game.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ struggled early against a very aggressive Blue Mountain squad. Blue Mountain forced 15 first half Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ turnovers and held the Lady Bulldogs to just 1-of-8 (.125) shooting from behind the arc in the first half. However, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ managed a 36-26 halftime lead.

In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ came out much different as the Lady Bulldogs committed just four second half turnovers and shot 47-percent from the field, including 3-of-6 (.500) from behind the arc. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ out-scored Blue Mountain 54-35 in the second half to pull away for the win.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led with six players in double figures, while all eight Lady Bulldogs scored in the game. Natanya Smith scored 18 points and D.J. Sissoko added 16 points and 10 rebounds. Josephine Owino scored 14 points, Crystal Eason and Kaitlin Dudley added 13 points each, and Latorya Fuller scored 10 points.

Blue Mountain was led by Lauren Ford with 14 points, including 2-of-3 from behind the arc. Lana Harris added 10 points for the Toppers.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is the next chapter in the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ / Freed-Hardeman rivalry as the No. 12 Lady Bulldogs and No. 14 Lady Lions play this Saturday, January 20 at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. The game will start at 2:00 pm with the men’s game to follow at 4:00 pm.
