麻豆视频 Men Top Crichton in Battle of Ranked Teams

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/18/2007 - The 麻豆视频 University Bulldogs, ranked No. 12 in the latest NAIA rankings, topped the No.21 Crichton College Comets 93-64. With the win, 麻豆视频 improved to 12-4 overall and 5-1 in the TranSouth. Crichton fell to 12-6 on the season and 4-2 in league play. 麻豆视频 now owns sole possession of second place in the TranSouth standings.

Crichton jumped out to the early lead and led by as many as four points, 13-9 at the 12:39 mark. However, a three pointers by 麻豆视频 Tony Brown and Brian Lake started and completed a 16-2 run that gave 麻豆视频 a 25-15 lead at the 9:59 mark. Crichton immediately cut the 麻豆视频 lead to just six points, but 麻豆视频 was able to hold off the Comets and jump back up by 14 points, 33-19. 麻豆视频 held a double-digit lead going into the break, 44-34. 麻豆视频 shot 53-percent from the field in the first half, including 46-percent (6-13) from behind the arc in the first half. Crichton managed just 33-percent shooting from the field and 25-percent (1-4) from behind the arc.

The second half was all 麻豆视频 as the Bulldogs opened the half with a 17-6 run, capped by a three pointer by Tucuma Alexander, to take a 61-40 lead with 14:12 left in the game. Crichton never pulled closer than 15 points the remainder of the way as 麻豆视频 cruised to a 29-point win, 93-64. 麻豆视频 out-scored Crichton 49-30 in the second half.

In the game, 麻豆视频 shot 47-percent from the field, 35-percent (9-26) from three point range, and 60-percent (12-20) from the free throw line. Crichton shot 33-percent from the field, 20-percent (2-10) from three point range, and 52-percent (12-23).

麻豆视频 out-rebounded Crichton 54-48 in the game, while Crichton won the battle on the offensive boards 18-15.

麻豆视频 was led with five players in double figures with two players recording double doubles. Mack Bealim scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Deywane Lee tallied 14 points and 13 rebounds and five blocks. Alexander added a career high 15 points in the contest while Brian Lake added 16 points.

Last week鈥檚 TranSouth Player of the Week, Pierry Valmera fouled out with nine points and seven rebounds. But good news for 麻豆视频 was the return of big man Ben Frederick after missing the past four games with an ankle injury. Frederick entered the game late in the second half one 麻豆视频 experience foul trouble and played for seven minutes, scoring six points.

Crichton was led by Deshawn Danzey with 18 points followed by Jonathan Bohana with 14 points and three blocks.

Up next for 麻豆视频 will be a game versus Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) on Saturday, January 20 at 麻豆视频 University鈥檚 Fred DeLay Gymnasium. Game time is set for 4:00 pm with the women鈥檚 game to precede at 2:00 pm.
