TranSouth Picks 麻豆视频鈥檚 Valmera as Player of the Week

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/16/2007 - 麻豆视频 University鈥檚 is the TranSouth Athletic Conference men鈥檚 basketball player of the week for the week ending January 14, 2007. This is Valmera鈥檚 second TranSouth Player of the Week honor this season.

Valmera, a 6-foot-8 senior center from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, helped lead No. 13 麻豆视频 University to a 2-0 week in TranSouth Conference play. In 麻豆视频鈥檚 117-83 win over conference newcomer Mid-Continent University (Ky.), Valmera scored 26 points, grabbed nine rebounds, had one assist, three blocks, and two steals. The all-conference performer shot 12-of-15 from the field. In the Bulldogs 92-87 road win at Bethel College (Tenn.), Valmera posted a double-double against the Wildcats with 21 points and 13 rebounds. He also added two blocks and a steal to go with his 9-of-16 shooting from the field. His averages on the week were 23.5 points, 11 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 1.5 assists. Valmera shot 21-of-31 (68%) from the field.

Earlier this season, Valmera joined the 1,000 point club for his career at 麻豆视频. The senior current sits at 1,169 points for his career. He also has a total of 604 rebounds in his stellar career.

麻豆视频 is now 11-4 on the season and 4-1 in TranSouth Conference play. Up next for No. 13 麻豆视频 will be a battle versus No. 22 Crichton College (Tenn.) at 麻豆视频 on Thursday, January 18 at 8:00 pm. The 麻豆视频 Lady Bulldogs will play Blue Mountain College (Miss.) at 6:00 pm on Thursday at 麻豆视频.
