Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Men Top Bethel, Turner Gets 300th Career Coaching Win

McKENZIE, Tenn. - 1/13/2007 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University’s men won their second straight game with a 92-87 win at Bethel College (Tenn.). Also on the night, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ head coach Ralph Turner earned his 300th career win. In this, his 13th season at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, Turner has compiled a career record of 300-126 (.704). The Bulldogs improved to 10-4 overall and 3-1 in league play while Bethel fell to 8-8 on the season and 0-4 in the TranSouth.

For the second straight game, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ played without senior post player Ben Frederick who is expected to be out for at least two more weeks. The short-handed Bulldogs also played the game without senior guard Marcus Cooper.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ never trailed in the game and led by as many as 14 points. However, Bethel kept fighting and pulled to within one point on several occasions in the final two minutes of play. But Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, on the shoulders of a strong performance by senior Mack Bealim held on for the big road win. Bealim made 13-of-13 free throws in the game, including two in the final seconds to seal the five point win.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be yet another road game on Monday, January 15 in Batesville, Arkansas at Lyon College. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm.
