麻豆视频 Basketball Sweeps Mid-Continent with High Scoring Attacks

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/11/2007 - The 麻豆视频 University men's and women's basketball teams used explosive offensive outputs to sweep TranSouth Conference newcomer Mid-Continent University (Ky.) at Fred-DeLay Gymnasium on Thursday night. The No. 10 麻豆视频 Lady Bulldogs defeated Mid-Continent 119-33 while the 13th ranked 麻豆视频 men topped the Cougars 117-83.

In the women's game, 麻豆视频 (10-4, 1-2) started the game on a 21-0 run before Mid-Continent (5-10, 0-3) scored their first basket at the 12:32 mark on a three pointer by Bristyn Prowell. 麻豆视频 continued to stretch the lead and went into the half with their biggest lead of the half, 54-15. In the second half, 麻豆视频 continued to make shots from all eight players. The game's final score of 119-33 was 麻豆视频's largest lead of the game at 86 points.

Seven of the eight players for 麻豆视频 scored in double figures, led by Kaitlin Dudley with 21 points. D.J. Sissoko added 19 points and 10 rebounds, Jessica Graves scored 18 points, Crystal Eason and Josephine Owino added 15 points each, Natanya Smith scored 14 points, and Latorya Fuller added 11 points. Former JCS player, Lindsay Flynn notched her career high with six points, five assists, and four steals in 28 minutes for 麻豆视频.

Mid-Continent was led by Omega Key with eight points.

On the men's side, 麻豆视频 never trailed in the game despite the score remaining close for the first 10-plus minutes of play. 麻豆视频 jumped out to a 5-0 lead but Mid-Continent rallied back and trailed 麻豆视频 just 10-9 at the 16:26 mark. 麻豆视频 stretched the lead out to seven points, but the Cougars once again pulled back to within one point, 21-20 with 9:06 remaining in the first half. However, in the final nine minutes of the first half, 麻豆视频 distanced themselves with a 35-14 run to take their biggest lead of the first half at 22 points with a 56-34 halftime lead. In the second half, Mid-Continent pulled back as close as 16 points, 63-47 with 15:53 left, but 麻豆视频's outstanding second half shooting kept the Bulldogs well in front. In the second half, 麻豆视频 shot 73-percent from the field, including 56-percent (5-9) from behind the arc. For the game, 麻豆视频 posted a 61-percent shooting effort, including 42-percent (10-24) from behind the arc. The only thing cold on this night was 麻豆视频's free throws as the Bulldogs managed just 15-of-30.

麻豆视频 was led with six players in double figures. Pierry Valmera scored 26 points, while Deywane Lee added 21 points and 10 rebounds. Mack Bealim, Tacuma Alexander, and Alan North each scored 14 points. For North and Alexander, the 14 points scored marked career highs for both players. Tony Brown added 13 points and nine assists.

Mid-Continent was led by Brian Hewitt with 26 points. Sinsea Korkut added 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Brian Calhoun scored 12 points.

Both of 麻豆视频's teams are back on the road this weekend as they make the short trip to McKenzie, Tennessee to play Bethel. The women's game will start at 2:00 pm on Saturday, with the men's game to follow at 4:00 pm.
