Â鶹ÊÓƵ Men, Women Ranked in NAIA Top 5

JACKSON, Tenn. - 12/14/2006 - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ University men's and women's basketball teams find themselves together again in the NAIA rankings as both teams are ranked in the Top 5 of their respective polls released on Wednesday. The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Ladies remain ranked No. 3, while the men return to No. 5 in the polls.

The men returned to the same spot as their preseason ranking after a reporting error from the TranSouth Conference in last week's ranking kept all TranSouth teams out of the polls. Â鶹ÊÓƵ has an overall record of 7-2 this season. In a very tough pre-conference schedule, Â鶹ÊÓƵ has posted a record of 5-1 record versus teams currently ranked in the most recent men's basketball Top 25. The Bulldogs have wins over No. 7 Mountain State, No. 20 Houston Baptist, No. 21 McKendree, and twice over No. 17 Oklahoma Baptist. Â鶹ÊÓƵ's only losses have come on the road by three points at No. 21 McKendree and by seven points at Oklahoma Christian, who was ranked in the first two polls and is receiving votes in the most recent poll.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ's women stay at No. 3 for the second straight week. The Lady Bulldogs have also played a tough schedule to this point. Â鶹ÊÓƵ is 9-2 overall with a 3-2 record versus teams ranked in the most recent women's Top 25 rankings. Â鶹ÊÓƵ has wins at No. 10 Lee, versus No. 13 Houston Baptist, and No. 16 Georgetown. Â鶹ÊÓƵ also has posted a win over Oklahoma Baptist, who is receiving votes this week after being ranked in the past two polls. Â鶹ÊÓƵ's only losses on the season came to No. 1 Vanguard by six points and by one point on a last second shot at No. 9 St. Xavier.

The women are off for the Christmas break, however, the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Bulldogs play one more game against national tournament regular Olivet Nazarene University in Chicago on Monday, December 18 at 7:00 pm. Â鶹ÊÓƵ defeated Olivet Nazarene 83-65 in the first game of the year at Â鶹ÊÓƵ.

Both the men and women's teams open conference play in their first games back after Christmas on January 4 as the teams travel to Cumberland University Tenn.
