JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/31/2007 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University basketball teams continue to be ranked together in the latest NAIA National Rankings. The Ladies of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ are up one spot to No. 7 this week, while the men dropped from No. 11 to No. 22 after losing three games last week.
The Lady Bulldogs are winners of seven straight games and have rebounded from a 0-2 start in TranSouth play and are now in a four-way tie for first place at 7-2. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has two games his week versus Top-10 teams as they host No. 10 Cumberland University (Tenn.) on Thursday at 6:00 pm. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will then host No. 9 Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) on Saturday at 2:00 pm. Cumberland and Trevecca Nazarene are the only team in TranSouth play to best the Lady Bulldogs through the first half of the conference season.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s men have lost three games in a row for the first time since 2005. Last week, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ dropped games at No. 4 Mountain State University (W. Va.), at No. 6 Lambuth University (Tenn.), and at home to Martin Methodist College (Tenn.). Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ looks to rebound this week with big wins and history is on their side. In each of the past two seasons, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has followed their longest losing skids of the year with the longest winning streaks of the season. In 2005, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ followed three losses with 10 straight wins including the TranSouth regular season and tournament championships. Last season, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ followed two straight last season losses with eight straight wins including the second straight TranSouth regular season and tournament titles. The men host Cumberland University (Tenn.) on Thursday night at 8:00 pm and then will host No. 19 Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
