JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/29/2006 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men's soccer earned the biggest win in the program's history as they topped NAIA No. 1 Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) 2-1 in overtime at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ on Friday night. With the win, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 5-1-1 on the season as Lindsey Wilson falls to 6-2 on the season.
This match marked the second straight match versus a top 10 team for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ this week. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ posted a 1-0-1 record in the two matches with a 1-1 double overtime tie to No. 7 Mid-Continent University (Ky.) on Tuesday night.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored first in the 25th minute on a goal by senior Gareth Munro, assisted by Benny Crozier. That score stood until the 73rd minute when Lindsey Wilson's Ryan Stewart scored to tie the game on a penalty kick. However, in the 99th minute in overtime, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was awarded a penalty kick and took advantage as Crozier scored the game winner.
Up next for the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a double-header soccer match on Tuesday, October 3 with the men hosting Freed-Hardeman at 4:00 pm and the women's soccer team hosting Freed-Hardeman at 6:00 pm.
