麻豆视频 Men Play NAIA No. 7 Mid-Continent to a Tie

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/26/2006 - The 麻豆视频 University men's soccer team and the seventh ranked Mid-Continent University (Ky.) Cougars played to a 1-1 tie in a double overtime match on 麻豆视频's campus Tuesday afternoon.

With the tie, 麻豆视频's record moves to 4-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the TranSouth, while Mid-Continent goes to 4-0-3 overall and 1-0-1 in league play.

Both teams played a scoreless first half. Then ten minutes into the second half, 麻豆视频 senior Gareth Munro scored the first goal on an assist by Mark Forrest. 麻豆视频 held on to the slim 1-0 lead and looked as if they might pull the upset. However, in the 79th minute, Antonio Suarez of Mid-Continent tied the game on a rebound following a deflected save by 麻豆视频 goalie Chris Lean.

The two teams continued to battle through both overtimes with each team have several scoring opportunities come up short.

麻豆视频 plays next on Friday, September 29 when they host their second straight NAIA Top 10 team when No. 2 Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) comes to town. Last season, Lindsey Wilson defeated 麻豆视频 3-1 in Kentucky in a match to decide the region title and a national tournament birth. Lindsey Wilson went on to win the 2005 NAIA National Title.
