JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/19/2006 - Two streaks were continued tonight in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University's win over crosstown rival and new conference foe, Lambuth University. The Lady Bulldogs topped the Lady Eagles 3-0 (30-21, 30-15, 30-28). With the win, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 11-0 on the season, 3-0 in league play, while Lambuth drops to 10-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
The 11-0 start is currently tied for fourth best all-time in the 9-year history of the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ volleyball program (2001: 14-0, 1999: 14-0, 1998: 14-0, 2006: 11-0, 2003: 11-0).
This win for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ also moved the all-time record versus Lambuth to 26-0, dating back to the start of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ volleyball in 1998.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Monica Schirmer and Amanda Hutchison with 15 and 12 kills respectively. Purity Ogolla tallied 28 assists, Lindsey Holmes recorded four service aces, and Hutchison and Elena Villagomez added six blocks each.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ currently sits atop the TranSouth standings with a 3-0 record.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a home conference match on Thursday, September 21 versus Lyon College at 7:00 pm.
