JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/28/2006 - For the second straight season, the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldog soccer team opened their season with a win. On Saturday, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ top Bryan College (Tenn.) 5-0 to begin their second season of varsity competition.
In the win, Collierville, Tenn. native, recorded a hat trick in her first college soccer match. Blackard, a graduate of Briarcrest Christian High School, scored the first two goals, and then capped of the match with the team's fifth and final goal of the day. Sophomore transfer from Western Kentucky, Caitlin Zimmerman, tallied a goal along with Katelin Dirksen. Abby Williams, Brook Walker, and Dirksen each recorded an assist in the contest.
In the junior varsity contest earlier on Saturday, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ topped Itawamba Community College 3-0. Nikki Burau tallied two goals, while Rachel Fillinger added the third goal. Fillinger and Meagan Tobosa each tallied one assist.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will play next on Saturday, September 2 at Harris-Stowe State College in St. Louis, Missouri at 2 pm. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's next home match will be Monday, September 4 at 4 pm versus Brescia University (Ky.).
