Â鶹ÊÓƵ Tops Blue Mountain 110-50 in Record Setting Night

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/28/2006 - The #2 seeded Â鶹ÊÓƵ University Lady Bulldogs earned a first round win in the TranSouth Conference Tournament with a 110-50 victory over the #7 seeded Blue Mountain College (Miss.) Toppers on Tuesday night. In the process, Â鶹ÊÓƵ set a new school record for three pointers made in a game for the second time in four games with 19 three's made on the evening. Also, Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Crystal Eason tied the Â鶹ÊÓƵ record with 10 made three pointers as she exploded for a career high 30 points.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ, ranked No. 4 in the lastest NAIA polls, jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead and then led 23-2 on their way to a 54-26 halftime lead. In the first half, Â鶹ÊÓƵ made 8-of-15 three pointers. In the second half, Â鶹ÊÓƵ sank 11-of-22 three pointers to give them 19 made three pointers in the game. The old record of 18 was set just 10 days ago in a win over Brescia University (Ky.)

In addition to the team record, Crystal Eason made her mark in the Â鶹ÊÓƵ record books, with 10-of-13 three pointers made in the game. She tied the old record of 10 three pointers made by Mary Catherine Way set back in 2002. Eason actually made 11 three pointers in the game, however, because of an offensive foul called on Â鶹ÊÓƵ away from the ball, the shot was waived off.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ was led by Eason's 30 points followed by 16 points and 10 rebounds from Natanya Smith, 12 points from Ena Daniels, 12 points from Josephine Owino, and 10 points by DJ Sissoko.

Blue Mountain was led by Lauren Ford with 15 points.

With the win, Â鶹ÊÓƵ moves on to host Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) at 7:00 pm on Friday night, March 3 for a semifinal showdown. Â鶹ÊÓƵ and Trevecca Nazarene split their two regular season meeting with each team winning at home.
