JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/28/2006 - DeWayne Lee of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University was named the TranSouth Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the week for the week ending February 26, 2006. He shares the honor with Colins Onyando of Trevecca Nazarene University.
Lee, a 6-foot-8 junior from Memphis, Tennessee, helped his team to 2-0 this week against TranSouth opponents Martin Methodist and Freed-Hardeman. With those wins, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ finished in a tie for first in the final regular season standings. This marked the second straight season Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's men have finished first and the fifth time in the 10-year history of the TranSouth Conference.
In the game against Martin Methodist, Lee recorded 24 points and 13 rebounds. Lee added 13 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Freed-Hardeman. For the week Lee averaged 18.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, two steals, and three assists. He has had seven double-doubles this season, and averages 11.9 points and a team high 7.6 boards. He ranks seventh in the TranSouth in rebounds and third in offensive rebounds.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ begins play in the TranSouth Tournament this Thursday as they host Cumberland at 7:00 pm.
