JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/21/2006 - The No. 4 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs moved their record to 23-5 with a 112-61 win over Brescia University (Ky.) on Tuesday night at Fred DeLay Gymnasium. In the win, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ sank 18 three pointers to set a new school record. The old record was 17 set back on November 2, 2004 versus Brevard University.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ jumped out to a quick 16-2 lead, before Brescia cut Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's lead to just five points midway through the first half. It was then that Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ started to get things rolling as they stretched their halftime lead to 55-31. In the second half, it was more of the same as the Lady Bulldogs posted 57 more points to earn the 112-61 win.
In the game, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ made 18-28 (64 percent) three pointers and shot 55 percent overall from the field. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ boasted six players in double figures led by Merideth Richardson's 20 points on 5-of-9 shooting from behind the arc. She was 3-of-4 from three point range in the second half. Jessica Graves added 16 points on 3-of-4 shooting from behind the arc. Latorya Fuller added 15 points, Natanya Smith scored 12, Tiffany Fisher added 12, and DJ Sissoko scored 11 points. All 11 Lady Bulldogs scored at least three points in the game with seven different players making at least one three pointer.
Brescia was led by Paula Carver with 11 points, Sarah McDaniel with 11 points, and Holly Murphy added 10 points.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will wrap up their 2005-06 regular season this week with a road game at Martin Methodist on Thursday night at 6:00 pm and then their finally on Saturday when they host Freed-Hardeman at 2:00 pm.
