Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Owino TranSouth Women’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/14/2006 - Josephine Owino of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University was named the TranSouth Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the week ending February 12, 2006. Staci Myers of Freed-Hardeman joined her in this honor.

Owino, a 6-foot-4 freshman from Mombassa, Kenya, helped lead NAIA No. 5 and defending NAIA National Champions Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University to a perfect 3-0 record on the week. In Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's 73-62 win over No. 4 Trevecca, Owino led the team with 23 points, seven rebounds and seven blocks. Owino hit 11-of-16 from the field. In Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's 94-66 win over Lambuth University an injury Owino limited to just a few minutes of action and produced four points, two rebounds and three blocks. For the week Owino hit 13-of-19 (68%) from the field. This is the second time this season that Owino has been selected as the conference player of the week this season.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will visit Lyon College (Ark.) on Thursday at 6:00 pm and then will host Brescia University (Ky.) on Saturday at 2:00 pm for homecoming.
