No. 5 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Rolls Past No. 8 Cumberland 96-49

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/14/2006 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs continued their winning streak over NAIA Top-10 teams as they topped their second top-10 opponent in three days. On Monday night at Fred DeLay Gymnasium, No. 5 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ defeated No. 8 Cumberland 96-49. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 21-5 overall and 7-2 in league play. Cumberland fell to 20-6 overall and 3-6 in conference play.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they posted a 54-point first half effort. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 55 percent form the field in the first half, including 46 percent (10-22) from behind the arc. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led 54-21 at the break.

In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ outscored Cumberland 42-28 to take the final 96-49 win.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Jennifer Henson with a career high of seven three pointers made in the game. Her 23 points was just two points shy of her career high of 25 points scored as a freshman. Natanya Smith added 16 points and Ena Daniels added 11 points as all 11 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ players scored in the game.

Cumberland was led by Juliana Fernandes with 14 points. Cumberland shot just 30 percent from the field and 22 percent (4-18) from behind the arc.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will travel to Lyon on Thursday for a 6:00 pm tip-off.
