JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/11/2006 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs dropped a heart breaker at home to Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) 79-77 in overtime. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, ranked No. 5 in the NAIA, dropped their second game in a row to fall to 20-5 on the season and 5-3 in league play. It's the first time in over a year that Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's men have lost two in a row. Trevecca Nazarene improves to 20-4 overall and 6-2 in league play.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led by as many as 13 points in the second half at 62-49 with a little over eight minutes to play. Then Trevecca Nazarene started making every shot. The Trojans closed out regulation with a 18-5 run. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ had the ball for a last second shot but after two attempts at the game winner by Mack Bealim and Corey Burkett, nothing would fall.
In overtime, Trevecca Nazarene led the entire overtime including a 77-73 lead with 30 second left. It was then, when Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Kinley Sellers was fouled as he made a three pointer. His four point play tied the game. Trevecca Nazarene's Alex Renfroe took the ball the length of the floor and missed his attempt, however, Brian Oduor for the Trojans put the rebound back in as time expired to give Trevecca Nazarene the win.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Kinley Sellers with 23 points on 4-of-9 shooting from behind the arc. Deywane Lee added 16 points and 14 rebounds. Pierry Valmera scored 13 points for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.
Trevecca Nazarene was led by Alex Renfroe with 28 points on 4-of-8 shooting from behind the arc. Jerrod Perry added 18 points and Brian Odour scored 12 points.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will play again on Monday night at 8:00 pm when they host Cumberland University.
