JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/4/2006 - The No. 5 ranked 麻豆视频 University Lady Bulldogs used a strong second half performace to rally from a nine-point halftime deficit at No. 2 Freed-Hardeman University. However, 麻豆视频's rally came up just short as 麻豆视频 fell on the road 53-50. 麻豆视频 is now 17-5 overall and 4-2 in league play. Freed-Hardeman improves to 23-1 overall and a league best 6-0.
In a low scoring game all the way, Freed-Hardeman led 19-21 with just under five minutes to play in the first half. The Lady Lions stretched the lead to 30-21 at the break. In the second half, 麻豆视频 and cut the lead to just one point at 41-40 with 8:06 left to play in a basket by Ena Daniels. Freed-Hardeman answered back and led 50-45 with just over two minutes left when 麻豆视频's Tiffany Fisher drained a three pointer to get the Lady Bulldogs back within two points at 50-48 with 2:08 left to play. Again, the Lady Lions answered to earn the 53-50 win. 麻豆视频 outscored Freed-Hardeman 29-23 in the second half.
The 50 points scored by 麻豆视频 was the lowest point total since November 30, 2001, when 麻豆视频 tallied just 45 points in a loss at Oklahoma City.
Both teams struggled from the field as 麻豆视频 managed just 31 percent from the field, while Freed-Hardeman shot just 36 percent from the field.
麻豆视频 was led by Tiffany Fisher with 14 points and Natanya Smith with 10 points. 麻豆视频 made 6-of-19 three pointers and 2-of-3 free throws.
Freed-Hardeman was led by Ashlee Roberston with 13 points and Julie Hayes with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Freed-Hardeman made 7-of-19 three pointers and 6-of-10 free throws.
Up next for 麻豆视频 will be a non-conference game on Tuesday night as they host cross-town rival Lambuth University at 6:00 pm. 麻豆视频 defeated Lambuth 74-68 at Lambuth earlier this year.
