麻豆视频 Men Use Big Second Half to Top Crichton

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/21/2006 - The 麻豆视频 University Bulldogs pulled even in TranSouth Conference play with an 89-66 win over Crichton College (Tenn.). 麻豆视频, ranked No. 3 in the NAIA, improved to 15-3 on the season and 1-1 in league play. Crichton, who had received votes in the NAIA polls for three straight weeks, fell to 13-7 overall and 3-1 in league play.

In the first half, it was a close back and forth battle until 麻豆视频 stretched the lead to 34-24 with three minute to play in the first half. However, Crichton proved they were not going away that easy as they posted an 11-2 run to close out the half. 麻豆视频 led by just one, 36-35 at the break.

The second half started much like the first half with 麻豆视频 jumping out to a quick 40-35 lead. Crichton again rallied a took a brief 45-43 lead at the 14:45 mark. 麻豆视频 regained the lead and held off a Crichton team that stayed close for a while. With 8:49 left to play, 麻豆视频 led by just one at 60-59. From that point own, 麻豆视频's second half shooting started to heat up even more to help the Bulldogs pull away. In the second half, 麻豆视频 shot 56 percent from the field, including 53 percent (8-15) from behind the arc. Crichton went the last 3:24 of the game without scoring a point.

麻豆视频 was led by Corey Burkett with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Burkett made 6-of-11 three pointers in the game. Pierry Valmera added 18 points and five blocks. For the game, 麻豆视频 shot 50 percent from the field and 46 percent (12-26) from three point range.

Crichton was led by Dereck Boykin with 11 points, while Brian Gibbs scored eight points and grabbled 10 rebounds. The Comets shot just 33 percent from the field and 30 percent (7-23) from behind the arc.
