No. 4 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Tops No. 3 Oklahoma Christian; Set Three-Point Record

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/17/2005 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs passed their first challenge of the 12th Annual Rotary Classic as they defeated the NAIA No. 3 Oklahoma Christian University Eagles 103-69. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, ranked No. 4 in the NAIA, used great shooting and a record-setting 18 three pointers made to earn the win. The old team record was 17 three's set back November of 2004. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 4-0, while Oklahoma Christian falls to 1-1 on the year.

Both teams came out firing as both teams made each of their first six shots. At the 10-minute mark in the first half, both teams were still shooting above 60%. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ began to pull away in the first half as they led by 19 points at the four minute mark. Oklahoma Christian rallied a bit to cut the halftime lead to 14 points at 60-44. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led in the first half by Merideth Richardson as she made 5-of-6 three points. In the second half, it was all Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as the Lady Bulldogs continued to shoot well while also holding Oklahoma Christian to just 25 second half points.

In the game, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 61% from the field, including 55% (18-33) from behind the arc. Oklahoma Christian shot 49% from the field and 50% (4-8) from behind the arc. The Eagles made all four of their three pointers in the first half. For Oklahoma Christian, Lauren Decker scored 17 points, Tasha Turney scored 12 points, Katie Farris scored 11 points, and Carlissa Plowden added 10 points.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a battle with NAIA No. 5 The Master's College (Calif.) on Friday at 7:00 pm at Fred DeLay Gymnasium on the Campus of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University.
