Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Men's Soccer Advances To NAIA Region XI Championship Game

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/10/2005 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men's soccer team advanced to the NAIA Region XI Title game with a 0-0 2OT (4-3 PK) win over conference rival Cumberland Univeristy (Tenn.). Cumberland had defeated Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ twice on the season, including last week's TranSouth Title game.

This marks the second straight season that Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has ended Cumberland's season in the region tournament as they knocked them out last season in the quarterfinals. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 13-2-1 on the seaosn. This win sets up a title match with defending region champion and current NAIA No. 4 ranked Lindsey Wilson.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and Cumberland went scoreless through regulation and then two overtimes before Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ put together four goals by Bobby McColl, Benny Crozier, Marko Pavlovic, and Duncan Nicol to win 4-3 on penalty kicks. Chris Lean stood between the post for the entire evening as he tallied 15 saves and recorded two saves in the PK round.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ plays Lindsey Wilson at 6:00 pm on Friday, November 11 at Lindsey Wilson. Lindsey Wilson ended Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's season in 2004 in the semifinals of the region tournament. This championship match marks best NAIA postseason in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ soccer history.
