Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Women's Soccer Wins Comet Classic

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/21/2005 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University women's soccer team won two games this week to earn the Comet Classic Championship. The Lady Bulldogs topped host Crichton College (Tenn.) 1-0 on Thursday, then posted their first winning streak of their inaugural season with a 3-1 win over Harris-Stowe State College (Mo.) on Friday. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 4-9-1 on the season.

In the win over Crichton, Cheslie Tharpe, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's leading goal scorer recorded the game winner. On Friday, Kari Bachman scored the first goal, while Nikki Burau tallied the final two goals. Tharpe recorded two assists in the win over Harris-Stowe. The three goals scored versus Harris-Stowe were the most scored on the season in a game. The previous high was two, scored in a win in the season opener.

Tharpe was named the tournament MVP. Thapre, along with Bachman, Burau, and Kerra Kunce were named to the All-Tournament Team.
