JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/22/2005 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men's soccer program remained undefeated on the season with a 2-1 overtime win versus Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.). With this win, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 7-0 overall on the season and 1-0 in conference play. Trevecca Nazarene falls to 2-6-1 on the year and 0-1 in league play.
Trevecca Nazarene scored first with a goal in the 40th minute and took that 1-0 lead into the half. The 1-0 score stood until Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Cody Curtis, of Memphis, scored in traffic on an assist from Benny Crozier to even the match in the 88th minute. The match went to overtime with neither team able to score until the final minute of the first overtime when Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was fouled in the box to set up a penalty kick. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Gareth Munro, last week's NAIA Region XI Player of the Week, tallied his first game winner of the year with Scott Sinclair getting credit for the assist.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ allowed just their third goal of the season in this, their seventh game. Goalie Robert Stinson recorded four saves on 10 Trevecca Nazarene shots. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ recorded 25 shots in the contest.
