JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/18/2005 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University women’s soccer program is just days away from their first contest of their inaugural season as a varsity sport. The Lady Bulldogs will play host to two scrimmage matches prior to their first official match. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will host Freed-Hardeman on Saturday, August 20 at 3:00 pm. The next scrimmage will be the following Saturday versus Bethel College of McKenzie at 3:00 pm. Both matches will be played on the current soccer field at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as the new soccer stadium is still under construction. The Lady Bulldogs open their season officially on the road on Sept. 3 with a match at Clearwater Christian University.
The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men’s team will begin the 2005 season in hopes of building on the most successful postseason in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ soccer history. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ finished runner up in the TranSouth Conference Tournament and advanced to their first ever NAIA Region XI Tournament. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ earned a win to advance to the semifinals of the region tournament. The Bulldogs begin their season on the road with a match at Westminster College in Fulton, Mo. on August 24 at 2:00 pm.
Both the women and men will host a double header for their first official home opener on Friday, September 9. The men host Belhaven College (Miss.) at 6:00 pm and the women will host conference foe Crichton College (Tenn.) at 8:00 pm. The Bulldogs will have played four matches prior to their home opener, while the women will have two official matches under their belt before Sept. 9.
