JACKSON, Tenn. - 6/6/2005 - The 麻豆视频 University softball team has signed of Bolivar, Tennessee to play for the Lady Bulldogs starting this coming season. Kirk, a 2005 graduate of Bolivar Central High School, will join 麻豆视频 this fall as a freshman and will major in mathematics.
Kirk, at 5-foot-7, has played numerous positions during her high school career, including time as a shortstop, an outfielder, and also as a pitcher. She started all four season of her high school career under head coach Mike Madden. As a senior, Kirk hit .424 with 27 RBI, and also compiled a 7-6 record on the mound with one save. She posted a 2.24 ERA while striking out 100 batters in 71.2 innings pitched. She is a career .384 hitters and has 91 RBI, 19 wins, and 302 strikeouts during her four years at Bolivar Central. Kirk was named All-District 12-AA as a senior. She was also named the Gatorade Player of the Year, District All-Tournament, All-District, Jackson Sun All-West Tennessee, and a High School Christian Student Athlete second team All-American during her junior season.

Off the field, Kirk was just as successful and posted just as many honors. She was named a Girl鈥檚 State Delegate as a junior, and then Rotary Student of the Month, Most Studious, Most Likely to Succeed, and was named to the Bolivar Central High School Wall of Fame as a senior. In her four years of high school, Kirk earned eight subject awards and was on the Honor Roll each year. Kirk was also a member of numerous clubs, including Fellowship of Christian Athletes, BETA Club president, Yearbook Editor, Spanish Club, and Cheerleading Captain.
Kirk鈥檚 father, Tony, was a standout baseball player for the 麻豆视频 Bulldogs and was a member of the 1983 NAIA World Series team. He still holds two records at 麻豆视频 for triples in a game (2) and at bats in a game (7).
