JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/12/2005 - Jackie Cliff and Daniella Pope of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University have been named the TranSouth Athletic Conference Pitcher and Player of the Week respectively for the week ending April 10, 2005. Both players helped No. 9 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to a 3-1 week with all four games being on the road. In addition to the conference honor for Pope, she was also named the NAIA Region XI Player of the Week for the same time period.
, 6-foot-0 junior first baseman from Phoenix, Arizona, posted a .615 batting average, 11 RBI, a home run, a double, a .923 slugging percentage, and three walks. In Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s 17-2 win over conference foe Cumberland, Pope was 3-for-4 with a home run and six RBI. In all, Pope had a hit in each of the four games Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ played this week. All of the games were on the road. Pope leads Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with a .427 batting average this season and a team high six home runs and 40 RBI.
, a five-foot five-inch junior from Danville, Calif., tossed a complete game four-hitter at No. 14 Trevecca Nazarene. Cliff allowed just one run on four hits and didn’t walk a Trojan in her seven inning performance. Cliff is 9-3 on the season and has a 1.81 ERA on the year. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was ranked No. 9 in last week’s NAIA Top 25 and is ranked No. 1 again in this week’s NAIA Region XI rating. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is 31-6-1 on the season and 3-1 in the TranSouth. This week’s will be released on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
