Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Burkett, Valmera Named NAIA All-Americans

JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/24/2005 - Coming off their seventh NAIA National Tournament appearance in eight seasons, the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs had two players named to the NAIA All-American list. Junior guard Corey Burkett was named a third team All-American performer, while sophomore center, Pierry Valmera was named an All-American honorable mentioned.

, a 6-foot-3 junior guard from Dothan, Alabama, led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with 15.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He was first in the TranSouth conference with 96 three pointers made. He also ranked third with a .412 (96-233) three point percentage and was ranked fifth in the league in scoring.

, a 6-foot-8 sophomore center from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, came on strong in the second half of the season as he jumped his average up to 11.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He averaged 14.5 five points in just conference games, which proved to be valuable in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s 8-2 league mark. Valmera ranked third in the TranSouth with his 38 blocks on the season.

This season, the Bulldogs earned the TranSouth Regular Season and Tournament Championships on their way to the NAIA National Tournament.
