JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/1/2005 - The No. 7 ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs advanced to the semifinals of the 2005 TranSouth Conference Tounament with a 99-67 win over Blue Mountain College (Miss.) at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ on Tuesday night. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, the #3 seed in this tournament improved to 29-4 on the season, while Blue Mountain, the #6 seed, ends their season with a 10-15 record.
The two-time TranSouth Conference Player of the Year proved why she had just received her second player of the year honor earlier in the day as she posted 30 points and 15 rebounds in just 22 minutes played. For Clark, this was her NAIA leading 24 double-double of the season. Two other Lady Bulldogs recorded double figures as all but one player scored at least one point in the game. Monica Elliott tallied 11 points and Crystal Eason, a member of the 2005 TranSouth All-Freshman team, scored 10 points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ made 11-of-38 (.289) three pointers as seven players tallied at least one. Witney Tate was 3-of-6 from three point range while Merideth Richardson and Crystal Eason were 2-of-6 each. Richardson joined Clark on the All-Conference first team. Ena Daniels, who tallied nine points and four boards, was named second team All-Conference.
Blue Mountain kept the game close early as they tied the game up at 17 all midway through the first half. Sheree McDowell tallied 19 ponits, Priscilla Berry scored 16 points, and Katie Walker scored 13 points for the Toppers.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a trip to the #2 seeded Trevecca Nazarene University for a semifinal showdown in Nashville on Friday, March 4 at 7:00 pm. Trevecca Nazarene knocked off Martin Methodist 75-62 to advance.
