Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Burkett and Clark Named TranSouth Basketball Players of the Week

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/21/2005 - and both of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University have been named the TranSouth Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week and the TranSouth Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, respectively, for the week ending February 21, 2005.

Burkett, a 6-foot-3-inch junior guard from Dothan, Alabama, helped lead Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to a perfect 3-0 week including an upset win over NAIA No. 1 Mountain State. Burkett averaged a double-double for the week with 17 points and 10 rebounds per game, while adding six assists, two steals and a block shot. He tallied a double-double (24 points, 14 rebounds) in the win over Mountain State. Burkett’s shooting percentages were very impressive, hitting 16-of-32 (50%) from the field, 12-of-24 (50%) from beyond the arc and 7-of-10 from the charity stripe. He leads the team with 15.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game this season. The Bulldogs are now 20-7 overall, atop the TranSouth at 6-1, and currently ranked NAIA No. 13.

Clark, a 6-foot-2-inch senior forward from Artesia, New Mexico, led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to another perfect 3-0 week, including a win at NAIA No. 13 Cumberland. She recorded two double-doubles on the week (her 21st and 22nd double-doubles of the season). Clark scored 65 points (21.7 per game), 31 rebounds (10.3 per game) and added eight assists, seven steals and 2 block shots in the Lady Bulldogs effort this week. She shot 24-of-43 (55.8%) from the field and 17-of-18 (94.4%) from the free throw line. The Lady Bulldogs are 27-3 overall, 7-3 in the TranSouth Conference, and ranked NAIA No. 7.
