JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/17/2005 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs won their fifth game in a row with a 78-52 win over Lyon College. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, ranked No. 7 in the NAIA, improved to 26-3 on the season and 7-3 in the TranSouth Conference. Lyon fell to 14-11 overall and 2-6 in league play.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ avenged one of their only three losses on the season with an impressive second half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led just 33-31 at halftime. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led by as many as nine points in the first half but could never pull away as Lyon kept it close with 52% shooting from the field. In the second half, it was all Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as the Lady Bulldogs outscored Lyon 45-21 in the second frame. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 53% from the field in the second half including 7-of-14 (.500) from behind the arc. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ committed just four turnovers in the second half (12 in the game). Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Stephanie Clark with her NAIA best 21st double-double of the year as she posted 16 points and 11 rebounds. Ena Daniels added 14 points while Molly York scored 10 points off the bench. Lyon was led by Candace Pettis with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Anrdrea Sublett added 15 points for Lyon.
The Lady Bulldogs will play again on Saturday, February 19 at 2:00 pm versus Park University (Mo.). This game will be a part of Homecoming on the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University campus.
