Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Way Named TranSouth Player of the Week

Jackson, Tenn. - 2/4/2002 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University senior, Mary Catherine Way was named TranSouth Conference Co-Player of the Week along with Martin Methodist’s Kim Loop. Way also broke the seven year old school record for three pointers in a game with her 10 for 16 performance in Saturday’s win over Berry College.

Way, a guard from Jonesboro, Arkansas, tallied her career high on Saturday when she scored 33 points on 10-16 shooting from behind the arc. For the week, Way shot 58% from the field including 61 % from three-point range. She also tallied eight rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals on the week. Way helped the No. 2 ranked Lady Bulldogs improve their record to 22-2 overall and 8-0 in the conference. She is averaging 10.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Way’s 64 three pointers made on the season leads the conference. She is fifth in assist per game in the conference with 3.92 and sixth in the conference with a .372 three-point percentage.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s old record of nine three pointers made was previously held by two Lady Bulldogs, Kim Welch Echols in 1990-91 and Kelly Hayes Bramblett in 1995-96. Way’s 10 gives her the new record for three-pointers made in a game.
