Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Men Fall to No 4 Oklahoma Christian 75-65

JACKSON, Tenn. - 12/10/2004 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs, ranked No. 18 in the latest NAIA Men's Basketball Rankings, fell at home on Saturday to the No. 4 ranked Oklahoma Christian University Eagles . Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ drops to 9-3 on the season and sees their five-game winning streak come to an end. This also marks the first loss of the season season at home for the Bulldogs. Oklahoma Christian improves to 11-0 on the season.

The Bulldogs, who trailed just 34-29 at the half, found themselves behind much of for the entire second half. Oklahoma Christian jumped the lead up to 13 points twice but could put the game away. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, playing with out starting point guard Marcus Cooper for the entire second half, used several rallies to pull to within five points. The last rally attempt fell short with 1:38 left in the game as Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ closed the score to 70-65. Oklahoma Christian made 14-of-16 free throws in the second half alone, including 9-of-10 in the final four minutes to seal the win.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by senior forward, Bruno Martinessi with 19 points. Corey Burkett added 12 points while Ben Frederick tallied 10 points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 45% from the field, including 33% (6-18) from behind the arc. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot made 17-of-22 free throws in the game, including all four attempts in the first half.

Oklahoma Christian was led by Jarred Merrill with 32 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 shooting from behind the arc. Merrill made 9-of-10 from the charity stripe. Brady Page added 23 points for the Eagles of Oklahoma Christian. The Eagles shot 51% from the field including 43% (9-21) from behind the arc.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will play next versus Arkansas Baptist College on Saturday, December 11 at 2:00 pm. The game will be in Henderson, Tenn. on the campus of Freed-Hardeman University.
