JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/27/2004 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs put five players in double figures as they defeated Faulkner University (Ala.) . Leading the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ attack was senior forward Bruno Martinessi's first career triple double (10 points, 10, rebounds, 12 assists). Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 7-2 on the season and remain a perfect 5-0 at home, while Faulkner falls to 5-2 on the season.
This marks the third straight game that Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has allowed 52 points or less. Over the past three games, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has allowed just 152 points total.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and Faulkner swapped leads eight times during the first half with Faulkner leading by as many as three. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ started to pull away late in the half thanks to a 9-0 run started by a Marcus Cooper three-pointer. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ took a 35-25 lead into halftime.
After the half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Bruno Martinessi made a three pointer to give the Bulldogs a 13 point lead. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ would never led the lead fall below 11 points after that. The Bulldog stretch the lead out to 21 points at 53-32 with 10 minutes left in the game. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's 23 point lead as the buzzer sounded marked the Bulldog's biggest lead of the game.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Marcus Cooper with 18 points on 4-of-6 shooting from behind the arc. Corey Burkett added 16 points, Ben Frederick scored 12 points, Rod Ross tallied 11 points, and Martinessi scored 10 points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot .491 from the field including .412 (7-17) from three point range. The Bulldogs outrebounded Faulkner 40-30 in the game.
Faulkner was led by Kellen Cole with 15 points and Teon Jefferson with 10 points.
