JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/19/2004 - The 4th ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs defeated the No. 2 ranked Vanguard University Lions during second day action in the . Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 7-0 on the season while Vanguard falls to 2-1.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ trailed by four, 31-27, at halftime. During the first half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ managed only 26% (12-46) from the field, including just 2-of-19 shooting (.105) from behind the arc. Vanguard shoot just 37% from the field and only made 1-of-7 three pointers (.143).
In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's shooting percentage inproved to 48% from the field and 33% (4-12) from the three point line. No three pointer more important that the one made by Tifany Fisher as the shot clock expired with 7:30 left in the game to give Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ a 48-47 lead that they would not surrender. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ jumped up to a 10 point lead (64-54) with 59 seconds remaining on a three pointer by Jennifer Henson. That would be the largest lead of the game for either team. This game saw nine ties and 11 lead changes.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was again led by Stephane Clark with 16 points and 17 rebounds. Twelve of Clark's 16 points came in the second half. Ena Daniels, for the second straight night, tallied 17 points. Daniels also tallied six rebounds and three steals to help Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ manage the comeback during the second half. Tiffany Fisher added 11 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
Vanguard was paced by Kelly Schmidt with 14 points and Lisa Faulkner with 13 points. Lacey Mills and Faulkner led with eight rebounds apiece.
