JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/18/2004 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs earned a win in their first game of the over the University of Science & Arts (Okla.) . Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, ranked No. 4 in the NAIA, improves to 6-0 on the season. USAO falls to 5-1 on the year.
After falling behind 5-0 to start the game, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ took over and built a 47-27 lead going into halftime. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's defense showed up is force as they held USAO's leading scorer, Christal Merriweather, to just four first half points. Also, in the first half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ made 11-of-11 free throws. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's first half dominace was paced by two players, Stephanie Clark and Ena Daniels. Clark tallied her sixth double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the first half alone. Daniels came off the bench to tally 15 first half points, including her 3-of-3 shooting front behind the arc.
In the game, Clark finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds while Daniels finished with 17 points. Nine other Lady Bulldogs scored in this game. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 48% (10-21) from behind the arc, 50% from the field, and 94% (16-17) from the free throw line.
USAO was led by Katie Sterling with 25 points and Christal Merriweather with 16 points.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a NAIA Top 4 match-up as they battle No. 2 Vanguard. Vanguard led Freed-Hardeman by 24 points (41-17) at halftime, however, had to hold of a tremendous Freed-Hardeman second half run to win by three, 71-68.
