Jackson, Tenn. - 1/28/2002 - For the second time this season, Â鶹ÊÓƵ University forward Robert Joseph has been named the TranSouth Conference Player of the Week. Joseph, a senior from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record on the week including a 29 point victory over Freed-Hardeman.
On the week, Joseph scored 42 points while shooting 62.5% (15-24) from the field. He also tallied 16 rebounds, 14 blocked shots, four assists, and one steal on the week. Joseph currently leads the conference in scoring with 22.4 points per game and rebounding with 9.59 boards per game. He ranks fourth in the conference with a .615 shooting percentage on the season.
Joseph, by far, leads the conference in blocks with school record 158 and counting. However, Joseph is only 23 blocks away from the NAIA national record for blocks in a season of 181 set back during the 1971-72 season. He has nine regular season games remaining plus any post season games to pass the record. Through Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s 22 games, Joseph is averaging 7.18 blocks per game.
The Bulldogs are currently 20-3 on the season with a 4-1 conference record. Â鶹ÊÓƵ stands alone at the top of the TranSouth Conference standings, but will be tested with three tough road games coming up. This Thursday, Â鶹ÊÓƵ travels to Lyon College, on Saturday to Berry College, and then next Thursday to Lee University.
