LOUISVILLE, Ky. - 11/8/2004 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University cross country continued to run well as the participated in the in Louisville, Kentucky. The women finished second in the region, while the men posted a third place finish.
Only the region champion team will advance to the NAIA National Meet, however, the top five individual finishers in each race that are not a part of the champion team earn a spot in the national tournament as an individual qualifier. For Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, this meant that three runners would move on to nationals. Senior Jackson natives and , along with freshman standout of Laronia, Tenn. will represent Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ on Saturday, Nov. 20 in Louisville, Ky. for the NAIA National Meet. Campbell finished fifth in the women’s race, while Thompson and Winter finished 10th and 12th respectively in the men’s race. For Campbell, this is her third trip to the NAIA nationals as an individual qualifier. Winter makes his second trip to the nationals and Thompson makes his first appearance.
Several Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ runners earned spots on the All-Region teams. Janelle Campbell earned first team All-Region, while teammates , , , and earned second team All-Region honors. Schroeder, Graham, Konkol, and Cross finished 11th thru 14th respectively in the region race.
On the men’s side, Phillip Thompson, Chris Winter, , and earned second team All-Region honors. Following Thompson and Winter in the race, Martin and Fox finished 13th and 14th respectively.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ head coach was named the NAIA Region XI Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
