Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Men Earn Win in Season Opener

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/2/2004 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs topped Williams Baptist College (Ark.) as they opened their season with a win. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ goes to 1-0 while Williams Baptist falls to 0-1.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Corey Burkett and Ben Frederick with 19 points each. Cortney Jones added 10 points for the Bulldogs. In addition to these three, all players for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored at least three points in the game. Bruno Martinessi led the Bulldogs with nine rebounds to go with his nine points. In the game, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ sho 46% from the field including 39% (14-37) from behind the arc. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ made 13 of their 15 free throws attempted.

For Williams Baptist, Jeremy Bell, who posted 36 points versus Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ last season, scored 31 in tonights contest. Braden Watson added 20 points for the Eagles.

Up next for the men's team, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will travel to No. 8 Georgetown College (Ky.) on Thursday night at 7:00 pm.
