Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Ties Lyon, Earns No. 3 Seed in Conference Tourney

BATESVILLE, Ark. - 10/30/2004 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men's soccer rallied from two goals down to force a tie with Lyon College (Ark.) in the final regular season game of the 2004 season. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ moves to 7-7-2 on the year and 2-2-1 in the TranSouth.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ trailed 2-0 in the first half, but then rallied for a goal late in the first half and added a goal in the second half to force overtime. After two overtime periods, the score remained tied at 2-2.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and Lyon finished the season with the same conference record, however, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ won the tie-breaker and earned the No. 3 seed in next week's TranSouth Conference Soccer Tournament and Lyon earns the No. 4 seed. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds belong to Martin Methodist and Cumberland (Tenn.) respectively. The tournament starts on Friday, Nov. 5 on the campus of Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tenn. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and Cumberland will play at 12:00 noon and Martin Methodist and Lyon will follow at 2:00 pm.

In addition to earning a spot in the TranSouth Conference Tournament, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has all but assured themselves a spot in the NAIA Region XI Tournament for the first time in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ soccer history. Currently, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is ranked No. 5 in the Region XI rankings, and unless their is a major upset in the TranSouth for MidSouth Conference Tournament, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ hopes to earn on the of the six spots in the region.
