JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/5/2004 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs defeated Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) 3-0 (30-19, 30-11, 30-9) to improve to a perfect 5-0 in the TranSouth Conference. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, who moved up three spots to No. 20 in the NAIA polls, holds the top spot in the league as the only undefeated team remaining. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is now 11-1 overall, while Trevecca Nazarene falls to 1-12 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's win over Trevecca Nazarene was helped by two serving streaks of 14 straight points, one by senior Nicole Garber in game 2 and the other by Kelly Huffines in game 3. Huffines served Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to a 14-0 lead to start the third and final game. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Gladys Wandera with 18 kills. Tedy Georgieva added 15 kills. Nicole Garber led with 29 assists and Allison Shein led with 16 digs.
On Friday, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ travels to play NAIA No. 10 Georgetown College (Ky.) in a battle for top spot in the Region XI standings. Currently Georgetown is No. 1 and Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is No. 2 in the region rankings.
