Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Volleyball Opens Season with Win

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/7/2004 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University volleyball team opened the 2004 season with a win over crosstown rival Lambuth University, 30-14, 30-17, 30-17. The Lady Bulldogs (1-0) enter the season ranked No. 17 in the NAIA Preseason Volleyball poll.

In the game, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's senior star Gladys Wandera picked up right were she left off with her power spikes and great serves. She, just two weeks removed from the 2004 Summer Olympics, ended the night with 22 kills, four blocks, and three service aces. Fellow Kenyan Phylis Anyango tallied 16 kills and three blocks. Senior setter Nicole Garber tallied 26 assists while sophomore setter tallied 27 assists in split time with Garber.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be an early TranSouth Conference match at Freed-Hardeman University on Tuesday, September 7th at 7:00 p.m.
