JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/24/2004 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men's soccer team trailed, took the lead, lost the lead, then scored in overtime to defeat Lambuth University 3-2 in the Sixth Annual Jackson Cup. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 1-0 on the season while Lambuth falls to 0-1.
Lambuth led this double-overtime thriller 1-0 at the half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ then scored 20 minutes into the second half on a goal by freshman Bobby McColl. Freshman Scott Sinclair added the go ahead goal for the Bulldogs with 12 minutes remaining in the game on Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's second corner kick goal of the match. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Craig Clark assisted regulation, Lambuth scored their second goal to tie the game. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ tallied the game winning goal five minutes into the second overtime on an breakaway goal by Gareth Munro.
The moves Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to 4-2 versus Lambuth in the six Jackson Cups and 4-3 in the all-time series versus Lambuth. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will play next on Friday, August 27 at home as they host St. Gregory's at 7:30 p.m.
